Once again, Mfantseman is proving to be the hub of festivals in Ghana with this year’s festivals celebrated throughout the Central Region. Amongst these festivals, the Oguaa Fetu Afahyɛ is one of the most popular. This year’s Oguaa Fetu Afahyɛ is set to set Oguaa alive this September as celebrated Dancehall King Shatta Wale takes center stage with the much-anticipated event, The Luckiest Afahyɛ Rave 2025.

The concert, scheduled for Friday, September 5, 2025, will take place at the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast. It promises an unforgettable night of music, culture, and celebration, blending the rich heritage of the Fetu Afahyɛ with electrifying performances from these top Ghanaian stars.

The Fetu Afahye is a festival observed by the chiefs and residents of Cape Coast in Ghana’s Central Region. This remarkable display of culture is held every year on the first Saturday of September. This annual celebration is significant to the Oguaa people of Cape Coast. Historically, the festival originated after a devastating outbreak of disease claimed many lives in the community. The people turned to their gods for intervention, seeking relief from the epidemic. As a result, the festival is now dedicated to maintaining the town’s cleanliness and preventing future outbreaks.

Joining Shatta Wale on the big stage will be other top Ghanaian acts including Nero X from Takoradi, Wendy Shay, and Okoto Perry a Cape Coast and Mfantseman native, making the lineup one of the strongest the festival has seen in recent years.

Organized by Image Bureau in collaboration with the Oguaa Traditional Council, the rave forms part of activities marking the 61st anniversary celebration of the Oguaa Fetu Afahyɛ, a festival deeply rooted in the culture and history of the people of Cape Coast.

Tickets for the event have been categorized into three packages – Standard (GHS 60), VIP (GHS 200), and VVIP (GHS 500) – and can be purchased via the short code 71210#.

Known for his energetic stagecraft and chart-topping hits, Shatta Wale’s presence at the festival is expected to draw thousands of music lovers and festivalgoers from across the country, making it a highlight of this year’s celebrations.

The Oguaa Fetu Afahyɛ remains one of Ghana’s most colorful traditional festivals, and with The Luckiest Afahyɛ Rave 2025, it is set to once again showcase the perfect fusion of culture and contemporary entertainment.

With preparations underway, the 2025 Fetu Afahyɛ promises to be a remarkable cultural experience, drawing thousands of people to celebrate the enduring legacy of the Oguaa people. As always, the festival will serve as a time of reflection, thanksgiving, and reaffirmation of the unity and identity of the Fante people.
